About Body Checking Skills Clinics

Our session structure is designed with the primary goal of elevating players’ competencies, by making them not just them with technical technically equipped, but also deepens game understanding, and builds confidence. By integrating moderated pressure level direct competition and full contact game situation drills, we ensure players are game-ready, combining technical prowess with the mental toughness needed for competitive success.

Foundational Mechanics.

Delivering and Receiving Hits.Starting with mechanics first is crucial because it lays the foundational skills necessary for executing more complex movements safely and effectively. By understanding and mastering the basic mechanics, players develop proper posture, balance, and technique, reducing the risk of injury and improving overall performance. This approach ensures a solid base, making it easier to incorporate advanced techniques and strategies as the player progresses.

Controlled Contact Drills:

Coach-Pad Interaction. Starting with mechanics first includes work against a coach using a hitting pad, which allows for safe, controlled practice of pressure and impact. This phase facilitates safer learning, ensures controlled force application, and allows for immediate correction and feedback, laying a strong foundation before progressing to more complex aspects of body checking. This methodical approach enhances safety and skill acquisition.

Strategic Body Checking.

Integrating Skill, Tactics, and Decision-Making.In this stage, we’re enhancing a comprehensive physical game skill set through practical on-ice scenarios and drills that simulate real game conditions. Focusing on body checking dynamics and incorporating nuances such as timing, angles, and reading opponent movements, the training advances players’ strategic understanding and application of checks. This approach not only aims to disrupt play but also to create offensive opportunities, merging technical skill with tactical game awareness and seamlessly integrating technique with game context.
