RHA March Break Hockey Camp is a dynamic and comprehensive full-day program designed to prepare players for higher-level competition during tryouts. Our unique hybrid development approach combines on-ice training, gym workouts, and daily SkillsLab sessions to accelerate skill development. Throughout the camp, players progress from learning fundamental and advanced skills to applying them effectively in game situations by Day 5. This progression ensures that by the end of the camp, players not only master the technical aspects but are also adept at using them effectively in competitive play.

The Triple Training Skills Boost Program, “Transform Your Skills in Record Time,” is an intensive 5-day course designed for rapid hockey skill improvement. It combines on-ice training to enhance essential skills and their game application with off-ice gym sessions for movement pattern development, focusing on strength, mobility, and explosiveness. The skills lab zone targets technical details in puck control and shooting. This efficient, integrated approach ensures quick, significant progress in players’ techniques, preparing them optimally for tryouts.

Stage 1. Improve Your Skating Movements.
The initial stage of our on-ice program is dedicated to refining specific hockey skating elements and integrating them with transitions. This day focuses on practicing fundamental skating movements, with and without puck control. Targeted training in core skating components and smooth transitions is crucial for enhancing overall in-game performance. By honing these essential skills, we prepare players for the dynamic demands of higher-level hockey, establishing a strong foundation for more advanced gameplay.The movements and skills honed on the first day are intricately integrated into later stages, guaranteeing a unified and progressive skill-building journey throughout the program.
Stage 2. Adapting Skills In Game-Like Scenarios
On Day 2, building on Stage 1’s foundation, players integrate learned hockey movements into game-like scenarios. This stage focuses on applying these skills in drills that replicate real-game situations, emphasizing the practical use of these skills. Players engage in exercises across all ice areas, facing obstacles that challenge their newly refined techniques. Crucially, all game situation drills culminate in a shooting and scoring component teaching players to create shooting lanes and shoot through screens using various shot types, thereby enhancing their effectiveness in actual game play.
Stage 3. Increase Your Impact on the Game.
On Day 3, the emphasis shifts to handling moderate pressure. Players focus on pivotal skills like puck protection and possession, crucial for on-ice value. The day’s drills are designed to teach maintaining puck control under pressure, utilizing edge work, body positioning, and fakes. Additionally, training in angling and positioning aims to elevate players’ ability to gain possession, covering body contact/checking, stick work, and tactical skating. These skills are instrumental in helping players win more battles and maintain control of the puck.
Stage 4. Read the Game, Improve Decision Making.
On Day 4 of the program, we intensify the pressure and focus on tactical application of skills. The on-ice session begins with drills that transition from practicing movements against obstacles to interacting with other players in moderated pressure scenarios. These scenario-based or situational decision-making drills offer multiple choices for players, requiring them to adapt to evolving situations. This approach improves decision-making on the ice, as players learn to read the game and respond effectively to various game conditions, leading to a more realistic and adaptive skillset suitable for actual game play.
Stage 5. Applying a Week’s Training in Full-Pressure Game Battles.
In the final stage of the March Break camp, players are challenged to apply the skills and elements practiced over the previous four days in actual game scenarios under pressure. This stage’s drills encompass all areas of the ice, emphasizing the real-time application of skills in a variety of game situations. This culmination of the camp’s training is crucial for ensuring players can effectively transfer and utilize their enhanced skills in competitive, high-pressure environments, mirroring the demands of real hockey games.

Hockey-Specific Athleticism Training. Become Faster on the Ice.
The off-ice program at the camp targets developing Hockey Stance, Stride Mechanics, and weight transfer, focusing on specific movement techniques and patterns crucial for enhancing performance and preventing injuries. The Hockey-Specific Athleticism Training component is designed to strengthen key attributes necessary for hockey. This includes building lower body strength for effective skating, upper body strength for shooting, improving core stability, and enhancing agility, speed, endurance, and flexibility for overall on-ice maneuverability and injury prevention.
Advanced Puck Control & Deceptions.
Focus on improving all types on puck control movent in combination with proper hockey stance, stride mechanics weight transfer and upper body fakes to develop. RHA Coaches will guide players with most efficient techniques to form right habits. All the movement will be trained in motion to maximise on-ice transferability.
Improve Shooting Mechanics Training
The program includes an hour of daily shooting drills with a 1-to-1 work to rest ratio, focusing on improving shooting mechanics for various shots under RHA specialist guidance. It covers techniques for wrist shots, snap shots, slap shots, backhand shots, and quick releases. Additionally, it integrates elements that enhance the ability to shoot effectively in game situations, such as creating shooting lanes. This comprehensive approach aims to significantly improve shooting skills in practical, game-like contexts.

Alex has trained many athletes into the NHL, AHL, OHL NCAA, KHL.
Recently retired professional hockey player. Born and played his career in Russia with 10 years of professional hockey experience and over 260 games Pro. His professional hockey career began in the MHL and extended to the VHL and KHL.
