The main accent of Hybrid Defenceman Hockey Camp is to develop the most valuable defenceman in modern hockey – D-man, who excels at both ends of the ice and plays both as a defensive and offence-producing blueliner.

Grows demand on Hybrid skill set conditioned because having that extra layer of offense can sometimes make all the difference in modern hockey. To archive this goal, both skills and hockey IQ development are required.

The camp program was designed to improve defensive and offensive skills and plays to create a balanced mix between the two play-styles, known as “hybrid defense.”

The camp program has two main areas of work: defensive and offensive playstyles. The defensive side focused on the skills and individual tactics the D-man required to initiate change in puck possession from the enemy team and to play physically:

• D-man skating specific (backward skating mechanics, transitions)
• Gap control
• Angling
• Body contact and hit delivery
• Proper stick work
• 1-on-1 defensive individual tactics

Offensive skills development aims to teach defencemen to generate offensive opportunities by joining the rush and produce from the blue line. 

• Forecheck, blue-line plays
• Execute a rush
• Create a shooting lane for himself
• “Walking the blue line”
